Coronavirus and schools closure information for parents / carers

Following the Government’s announcement, East Riding of Yorkshire Council would like to reiterate that schools, colleges and childcare providers will be closed for the vast majority of children until further notice.

Many parents working in critical sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home, should be.

The Department for Education is asking schools, colleges, nurseries, childminders and other registered childcare settings to offer provision, where they can, for children of critical workers and vulnerable children. You may have already been contacted by your child’s school. If this is not the case please look at their website.

This is an offer to parents and carers who are critical workers or have vulnerable children. There is no requirement for parents and carers to send children to school if you do not need or wish to do so.

Coronavirus information

We are following the guidelines from Public Health England and further support and advice can be sought by visiting their website at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public

We appreciate that following the government's revised advice there are a number of you who will be considering self-isolation. This decision is not one we can make for you; please consult the NHS website and follow the instructions of the medical experts.

Whilst we remain open we will not be sending work to individual absent students who are self isolating. This is due to the possible complexity of a rolling list of absences and to ensure staff are able to focus on sustaining our provision in school.

We instead would direct parents to the educational sites on line. Please see the below document for links.
