Welcome to Year 4!
Autumn Term 2018
The whole school have had an amazing time dancing, writing and making art all inspired by the story 'The Dot' by Peter H. Reynolds. In our art, we were inspired by artists Fiona Rae and Helen Wells, who both use dots in their paintings to create fantasy landscapes. Here are some of ours, which we created by using the marbling technique then drawing over the top to add detail.
Hull and East Riding Museum and Ferens Gallery visit.
Year 4 had a lovely time exploring the Celtic and Roman artefacts in the Hull and East Riding Museum on their trip. The rest of the day was spent in the Ferens Gallery, where the children enjoyed viewing and sketching their favourite artworks.
Year 4 have been learning about stories shared by Christianity, Judaism and Islam. We have considered the stories of Adam and Eve and Noah and the Ark and what these stories can teach us about how we should live our lives. We are also learning more about religious practices around rites of passage, including marriage.
In December, we held our own Jewish wedding ceremony. Key artefacts and traditions that are involved include the Ketubah (marriage agreement), Chuppah (canopy), Kepahs (special hats worn by Jewish men), blessings from a Rabbi, the exchange of rings and the breaking of a glass by the groom.
We all enjoyed being involved in the ceremony. Mazel Tov to the bride and groom!
